About Me

MY JOURNEY

When I was 17, I saw a live performance of Les Miserables. I was going through a challenging time as a teen, and seeing this mesmerizing performance sparked something deep inside me. That 3 hours of being in the theatre completely changed my life, and gave me hope for the future. Having experienced firsthand this power that theatre has to change lives, I made a lifelong commitment – to bring this magic to others by telling stories of my own.

Currently I am an artist in residence with the Hudson Classical Theatre Company and have worked several times throughout my career with Theatre Breaking Through Barriers. I also perform regularly as a puppeteer for children's hospitals across the US to help brighten children’s days.

My Life's Work

I am extremely passionate about telling stories for people of all different backgrounds and financial circumstances. I recognize how lucky I am that my parents took me to the theatre on that night.

My work has reflected a necessary truth back to me – performing in prisons and hospitals across the country has made me realize that theatre can and should be accessible to all people.

Authentic Representation

As a Japanese actress, I also care deeply about representing Asian women and working to ensure all people feel included. In this spirit, I am wholeheartedly committed to embodying real, multidimensional characters in my work.

I believe that when we are finally able to see more of these layered, nuanced expressions of our diverse culture in mainstream media, we will be able to see and relate to one another on a deeper level – as complex, whole human beings, despite any prejudice. If our work can provide opportunities for people to have compassion toward each other, we can make the world a better place.
